Full Report of the Activities and Achievements of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) from November 21st to December 21st, 2024.
As a responsible institution for disaster risk reduction, prevention, addressing the urgent needs of affected populations, and coordinating mine clearance activities, the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority has carried out the following activities in the past one month:
1. Signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and Agreements:
In the past one month, the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority signed 25 agreements with national and international organizations related to disaster management, risk reduction, and assistance to those affected by disasters. These agreements were valued at 18,968,145 USD (eighteen million, nine hundred sixty-eight thousand, one hundred forty-five dollars).
2. Mine Clearance Coordination and Integration:
The Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority's Mine Clearance Coordination and Integration Directorate has made significant progress in the past one month. The following activities were conducted:
• 3.89 kilometers of mine-contaminated and unexploded ordnance (UXO) areas were cleared.
• 161,017 individuals received public awareness education regarding mines and UXOs.
• 50,580 items such as brochures and booklets were distributed to raise awareness.
• During the operational period, the 24-hour mine clearance hotline received 197 calls, as a result 869 mines and UXOs were safely disposed of.
• 12 operational organizations and non-profit humanitarian agencies were issued accreditation certificates and licenses.
3. Humanitarian Assistance:
In cooperation with national and international organizations, the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority provided humanitarian assistance to 50,254 households in the past one month. These included:
• 15,994 households received food and non-food assistance.
• 34,260 households received cash assistance.
The total cash assistance provided amounted to 452,190,256 AFN (four hundred fifty-two million, one hundred ninety thousand, two hundred fifty-six Afghanis). This cash assistance was distributed in various categories, including:
• Shelter repairs,
• Fuel for heating,
• Cash for work programs,
• Purchase of winter clothing,
• Provision of food items, and
• Assistance to the families of martyrs.
4. Prevention Projects:
In the past one month, the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority implemented 4 preventive projects, including:
• Construction of protective retaining walls,
• Clearing of irrigation channels,
• Safe removal of rocks at risk of sliding. Additionally, in collaboration with relevant institutions, the Authority's Fire Prevention Committee surveyed over 300 fuel pump stations, provided them with standardization checklists, and set deadlines for compliance.
