The Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority Meets with the Head of UN-OCHA for Afghanistan at his office
Today, on Wednesday, before noon, the Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, met at his office with the Acting Head of UN-OCHA, Ms. Sanjana Qazi, along with UN-OCHA Deputy Director Muhammad Zaid Khatir and Communications Officer Shams Khalili.
Turabi Sahb, after welcoming the UN-OCHA delegation, stated, "We are pleased to collaborate with one another. We have always made efforts to expedite the work of various organizations and institutions to ensure timely assistance reaches the people. We have brought transparency to our administration and accelerated our operations. He further added that the authority cooperates with and supports all humanitarian organizations in every possible way.
Following this, Ms. Sanjana Qazi, the Head of the UN-OCHA office, expressed her appreciation for the efficiency demonstrated by the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority. She said, "We thank you for the swift progress in your work." She also noted that compared to previous years, there would be greater focus on disaster management and humanitarian assistance in the coming year.
She mentioned that last year, $3 billion were spent in Afghanistan on humanitarian aid and basic needs, and this year, they have requested $2.4 billion, of which $83 million has been received so far.
In conclusion, both parties committed to jointly resolving the obstacles that hinder progress.
