Acting head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority had a meeting with UNAMA’s Deputy for Economic and Development Affairs

Today, on Sunday, the acting head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, met with Mr. Indrika Ratwatte, the Deputy for Economic and Development Affairs at the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), at his office.
Mr. Turabi warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and expressed his gratitude, stating that the UNAMA organization has consistently collaborated with ANDMA in providing humanitarian and technical assistance. He emphasized the importance of continuing and strengthening joint cooperation in the future.
During the meeting, there was a particular focus on managing humanitarian aid in disaster situations, raising public awareness about the risks of landmines, and enhancing bilateral cooperation in demining efforts.
Ms. Indrika Ratwatte thanked the acting head of ANDMA for the opportunity to meet and acknowledged ANDMA's significant collaboration with UNAMA in addressing both natural and man-made disasters. He affirmed UNAMA’s ongoing commitment to supporting the organization.
Mr. Ratwatte further added that UNAMA is conducting research on the impacts of climate change and drought to identify those most affected, enabling timely interventions. Additionally, he highlighted plans to provide public awareness campaigns on unexploded ordnance for returnees and internally displaced persons.
