An MoU worth a total of $190,106 was signed between ANDMA and the Kandahar Refugee Organization

Today, on Wednesday morning,  respected Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, the Director General of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, met at his office with Mr. Bashir Ahmad Khalid, Programs Manager of the Kandahar Refugee Organization and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for joint cooperation valued at one hundred ninety thousand one hundred and six US dollars ($190,106).
During the meeting, the respected Alhaj Turabi Sahb stated:  
“Our effort is not only to deliver aid to affected people but also to pay greater attention to the implementation of preventive projects. For this reason, we encourage organizations and aid institutions to expand their efforts in these areas.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Khalid, Programs Manager of the organization, provided details about the project and said that public awareness programs have already been conducted in Logar, Kandahar, and Zabul provinces. In some areas, early warning systems for floods will be installed so that people can be prepared in the event of potential flooding. He assured that the project will be implemented transparently and on schedule.
It is worth noting that, under this MoU, the following activities will be carried out in Logar, Kandahar and Zabul provinces:

1. Provision of one set of GIS equipment and survey/identification of vulnerable areas in the mentioned provinces.
2. Installation of early warning systems in six locations in Kandahar and Zabul provinces, along with simulation exercises and public awareness training for 300 individuals.
3. Procurement of spare parts for the systems and handover to relevant committees for the next three years.
4. Conducting a 6-day training program on natural disaster risks for 500 people in Logar, Kandahar, and Zabul provinces.
5. Establishment of local committees for the prevention of natural disaster risks in the mentioned provinces.
6. Implementation of a public awareness campaign on natural disaster risk reduction for 1,000 people.
