A Technical Meeting was Held Between ANDMA and the International Organization for Migration (IOM)

On Tuesday morning, a technical meeting was held between Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) at ANDMA premises. The purpose of this meeting was to evaluate the progress of establishing volunteer teams, discuss future projects and enhance coordination between the two entities to effectively respond to the needs of affected populations.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Burhan ud din Shinwari, head of International Relations; Qari Mohammad Khoshhal Zamani, Director of Central Operations and Emergency Situations; Mulla Noor Mohammad Badri, Director of Prevention and Risk Reduction and several other directors from ANDMA. Representing IOM were Ms. Ghada Barakat, Head of Emergency Assistance Programs; Fahim Safi, her deputy; Jamod, Engineering Section Officer; Engineer Hasibullah, Head of Construction Programs and other members of the delegation.
The main discussions focused on IOM’s future projects, the critical role of volunteer teams in emergency response, strategies to enhance the capacity of these teams, challenges related to the participation of female staff in emergency situations, effective utilization of community capacities, and the need for coordination between national and international institutions.
ANDMA representatives emphasized the importance of establishing volunteer teams at the provincial level and shared insights on the experience of forming such teams in Kabul province. They also called for technical and financial support from international organizations to implement this program.
In response, IOM officials expressed their support for the initiative and pledged to discuss the matter with donors to secure funding.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties underscored the importance of continuing such meetings, expanding joint cooperation, and strengthening effective disaster response. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting this program.
