A Technical Meeting Convened between ANDMA and the Agha Khan Agency for Habitat to Facilitate Joint Activities

Today in morning, a technical meeting was held with representatives from Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority and the Agha Khan Agency for Habitat to foster cooperation and coordination in disaster management, encompassing emergency response, preventive projects, public awareness and other technical matters.
The meeting was attended by Hafiz Mohammad Yousuf Hammad, Director of Information and Publications; Burhanuddin Khan, Head of International Relations; Rahatullah Baik, General Director of the Agha Khan Agency for Habitat; Syed Ahmad Saheem, Emergency Response Coordinator; Abrar Hussain, Program Officer and several other officials from both the authority and the agency.
The central focus of the meeting was to review, strategize, facilitate, and accelerate emergency response activities, preventive projects, mutual commitments, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), information exchange, and the expansion of sustainable collaboration.
Representatives of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority provided detailed insights into their activities and existing challenges, underscoring the importance of close cooperation and coordination with international partners.
Additionally, officials from the Agha Khan Agency for Habitat reaffirmed their institution’s commitment to effective collaboration in delivering humanitarian services, expediting aid to families affected by natural disasters, advancing preventive projects, building capacity and supporting other sectors.
During the session, a presentation introducing Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority and its activities was delivered by Syed Karimullah Danish, Flood Expert, while a presentation on habitat projects was given by Engineer Harith Haidari, Head of the Engineering Department at the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties emphasized their commitment to ongoing joint cooperation, enhanced coordination in program implementation and effective exchange of information and other technical matters.
