Today in morning, Haji Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, the Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, met with Hizb-ur-Rahman, the Acting Head of the Community World Service Asia (CWSA) and Abdul Rahman Hashimi at his office, where they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for joint cooperation.
During the meeting, Alhaj Turabi Sahb welcomed the CWSA delegation and emphasized the importance of the organization’s ongoing projects, stating that assisting people is a priority. However, he highlighted that education, capacity building and infrastructure projects are given precedence, as prevention is always better than cure. He further noted that a list of areas at risk of rockslides would be shared with CWSA to facilitate the survey process.
Subsequently, Hizb-ur-Rahman, the head of CWSA, provided details about the project, explaining that it has been implemented for several years and requires annual renewal. He added that the project encompasses education and capacity-building programs, the construction of a 200-meter retaining wall in Nangarhar province, and the safe removal of several unstable rocks.
It is worth mentioning that this project, valued at $211,880, will be implemented in Kabul city and Shakar Dara district; Momand Dara, Dara-e-Noor, and Kot districts of Nangarhar province; Dawlat Shah, Alingar, and Alishang districts of Laghman province; and Asadabad, the capital of Kunar province.
