ANDMA’s Acting Head Inaugurated the Volunteer Workshop in Kabul

Today, in morning, a volunteer workshop was officially inaugurated in Kabul, organized by Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). The event was attended by the Authority’s Acting Head, Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi and AKDN’s Ambassador, Dr. Najmuddin Najm.
Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi stated that the program is designed to enhance rapid and effective response to natural disasters in Kabul and other provinces, with plans to expand it nationwide in the future. He emphasized that these volunteer teams will reduce the negative impacts of disasters and streamline the aid process, marking a significant step toward community unity and resilience.
These volunteers will focus on identifying disasters, sharing information and providing initial aid, with the goal of raising public awareness and minimizing losses.
Dr. Najmuddin Najm, AKDN’s Ambassador, highlighted their close cooperation with the Authority to strengthen disaster management capabilities across the country. He praised the initiative as a vital step toward swift and organized disaster response and affirmed AKDN’s commitment to supporting the training and equipping of volunteer teams. He expressed hope that the project would serve as a successful model for other provinces.
In conclusion, both parties pledged to sustain their collaboration and establish similar volunteer teams in other provinces to enhance nationwide disaster response capabilities.
