An MoU was Signed Between ANDMA and the INTERSOS Organisation for $716,267

Today in afternoon, His Excellency Mulla Nooruddin Turabi, the Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, met at his office with Mr. Maher Al-Shoun, Director General of the international humanitarian organization INTERSOS, and Mr. Abdul Qadoos Seerat, the financial officer of the organization, to sign a joint cooperation memorandum.
At the beginning of the meeting, Alhaj Turabi Sahb welcomed the INTERSOS delegation and expressed gratitude for the organization’s assistance and cooperation in supporting disaster-affected communities in Afghanistan. He emphasized that ANDMA is fully prepared to collaborate in resolving any challenges that may arise during the implementation of INTERSOS’s activities.
He further urged the organization’s representatives to continue their assistance to the vulnerable people of Afghanistan.
In response, Mr. Maher Al-Shoun, Director General of INTERSOS, provided details about the organization’s new project, stating that the project is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and will be implemented by INTERSOS. He praised ANDMA’s effective collaboration and prompt action in signing the memorandum, expressing appreciation for the authority’s leadership in facilitating the project’s implementation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding worth $716,267 was signed. Under this agreement, in three areas of the Deh Sabz and Sarobi districts of Kabul province, 12 committees, each consisting of 6 members (totaling 72 individuals), will be established. These committee members will receive training on mitigating risks from natural disasters and providing first aid during crises. A budget of $6,910 has been allocated for meeting-related expenses, including food, stationery, tea, and other necessities.
Additionally, $5,000 has been designated for the distribution of 73 first aid medical kits, each containing 23 different items, to the residents of the targeted areas. Furthermore, 450 needy families will receive winter kits containing 36 various items, and these families will also receive $80 per month in cash assistance for three months during the winter, with a total budget of $108,000 for this component.
Moreover, 300 families will receive hygiene kits containing 19 different items, valued at $43 per kit, totaling $12,900.
Three small-scale flood prevention projects will also be designed, approved and implemented by the aforementioned six committees. The costs for these projects will be paid in cash, with a budget of $88,427 allocated for this purpose.
