ANDMA Inaugurates Nearly 20 Million Afghanis Worth of Preventive Projects in Paktia Province

Yesterday, on Saturday, the General Director of Finance and Administration of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, Honorable Haji Molvi Mohammad Alam Aalmyar, led a delegation to Paktia Province. Accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Provincial Governor’s Office, Molvi Noorullah Mumtaz and the Head of Disaster Management in Paktia, Molvi Nisar Ahmad Najat, the delegation visited Jaji Aryob District, where they officially launched the implementation of several preventive projects.
During the visit, Honorable Haji Molvi Mohammad Alam Aalmyar and his delegation met with local religious scholars, tribal elders, community leaders and residents. In formal ceremonies, they initiated the construction of several critical and preventive projects in Zazai Aryob and Chamkani Districts, as well as in Gardez, the provincial capital.
Speaking at the event in Zazai Aryob District, Honorable Haji Molvi Mohammad Alam Aalmyar emphasized ANDMA leadership’s commitment to implementing vital projects. He announced the launch of several key preventive initiatives in Zazai Aryob, Chamkani, and Gardez City, stating, “In line with our leadership’s pledge, we are today inaugurating essential preventive projects in these areas.”
He further elaborated that these projects, funded by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), will be implemented in three villages of Zazai Aryob District. These include:

- A 76-meter-long dam in Ghonzai Ahmadkhel village.
- A 955-meter-long irrigation canal in Sargal village.
- A 485-meter-long irrigation canal in Barbilawot village.

Additionally, in Gardez City, the following projects will be constructed:

- A 340-meter-long retaining wall in Pal Khost village.
- A 520-meter-long irrigation canal in Malik Khel village.

In Chamkani District, a 55-meter-long retaining wall will be built in Gramai Shaga village.

The total cost of these projects amounts to 19,829,270 Afghanis (nineteen million, eight hundred twenty-nine thousand, two hundred seventy Afghanis). They are expected to be completed and handed over for public use within three months.
Honorable Aalmyar Sahb noted that approximately 30,000 families will benefit directly and indirectly from these projects, which will safeguard agricultural lands and homes from potential natural disaster risks.
Expressing gratitude to the IOM, he called on other organizations to enhance their cooperation with ANDMA in implementing preventive projects. He also announced that, in accordance with the guidance of His Excellency Amir al-Mu'minin (may Allah protect him), additional projects will be implemented in Paktia Province by ANDMA.
The Chief of Staff of the Paktia Governor’s Office, Molvi Noorullah Mumtaz, thanked ANDMA and IOM, highlighting that Paktia is among the provinces most vulnerable to natural disasters. He underscored the critical role of such projects in protecting lives and property.
The Head of Disaster Management in Paktia, Molvi Nisar Ahmad Najat, noted that five preventive projects were implemented in the province last year. He reaffirmed ANDMA’s commitment to reducing disaster risks through preventive initiatives and delivering humanitarian aid to affected communities. He added that the process of aid distribution continues and the authority remains ready to address public challenges.
The District Governor of Zazai Aryob, Maulvi Rahmatullah Hamidi, welcomed the delegation and emphasized the IEA’s dedication to ensuring public welfare and providing essential services. He urged for additional projects to be implemented in the district.
In closing, tribal elders of Zazai Aryob District expressed their appreciation to ANDMA and IOM. They called on the IEA and partner organizations to pay greater attention to the district’s vulnerability to natural disasters and to continue their support.
