Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority’s Acting Head Emphasizes Provision of Facilities at Torkham Camp

Today, on Thursday, the Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, established a working committee for the construction of a temporary camp for migrants in Torkham and assigned tasks to its members. Additionally, he set up an administration and management center to effectively address the needs of forcibly repatriated individuals.
During the visit, Alhaj Turabi Sahb met with migrant children at the Umari camp, expressed his empathy, and distributed cash assistance to bring them joy.
As part of the visit, he inspected the operations of the United Nations offices, mine clearance organizations, and other institutions at the Torkham border. Representatives from the UN offices, mine clearance organizations, and other international entities presented reports on their activities, including aid provided to forcibly displaced migrants and awareness campaigns about the dangers of mines and unexploded ordnance. They also emphasized the continuation of cooperation.
While appreciating the efforts and services of these organizations, the Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority reaffirmed the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s commitment to providing cooperation and facilities. He called for increased coordination between the authority, the United Nations, and other humanitarian organizations.
