The Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority met with the Acting Representative of UNICEF Afghanistan and Delegation
On the morning of Sunday, the acting head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, met with Abdul Qadir, the acting Representative of UNICEF Afghanistan, Abdullah Makhlouf, Head of Services, and their accompanying delegation to discuss effective delivery of aid to disaster-affected individuals.
In this meeting, Turabi Sahb warmly welcomed the UNICEF delegation and expressed gratitude for the significant support UNICEF has provided to the people of Afghanistan. He further stated that UNICEF supplies which are currently stored in the warehouses of ANDMA’s Kabul office, will be distributed to the people alongside the authority's existing resources. He requested UNICEF to extend similar support to the provincial offices of ANDMA to ensure timely access to aid for those in need during emergencies.
Turabi Sahb also mentioned that ANDMA aims to establish standard warehouses in the future, either through government funding or in collaboration with other organizations.
In response, Abdul Qadir Mousa, UNICEF's Acting Representative for Afghanistan, expressed his satisfaction with the meeting. He emphasized UNICEF's commitment to collaborating with ANDMA across all provinces and continuing its efforts to deliver emergency assistance to affected individuals. He noted that health and winter-related aid is currently available in 12 central and eastern zones, with additional supplies expected to arrive by the end of the current month. These will be distributed to the people through provincial offices.
Meanwhile, Abdullah Makhlouf, Head of Services at UNICEF, stated that the organization has warehouses in nine provinces and will work to establish additional warehouses in disaster-prone areas to ensure timely delivery of emergency aid.
In conclusion, the Acting Representative of UNICEF assured full preparedness for cooperation during emergencies, and both parties emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration.
