Climate change, from geopolitics to economics and migration, has profound effects on the lives of humans and other living things around the world.
Afghanistan produces very little (0.19%) of the world's CO2 emissions, but is the country most affected by the effects of climate change (persistent droughts and severe floods).
Afghanistan is a member of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, as well as the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. In light of the above two international instruments, we call on the COP26 Summit to provide Afghanistan with adequate financial assistance in the fight against climate change, taking into account the impact of this phenomenon.
Also, the budget for climate change and disaster relief projects should not be affected by sanctions such as humanitarian aid, so that the Afghan people can avoid the negative consequences of this phenomenon and not be further affected by climate change in the future.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is committed to all internationally accepted principles in the field of environmental protection and climate change in the light of Islamic and national interests to adhere to relevant guidelines on environmental protection and climate change during its development and project activities.
He also called on the international community not to leave the Afghan people alone in this regard.
