Official Opening of a Standard Camp by Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority in Torkham

Today, on Tuesday, the standard camp established by Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority was officially inaugurated in Torkham area by the Acting Head of the Authority, Alhaj Mulla Nooruddin Turabi. The ceremony was attended by Mohammad Hashem Maiwandwal, the head of the Omari Camp, Qari Nooruddin Rustamkhil, the Director of Coordination and Mine Clearance, Molvi Ahmad Shah Zaheen, the Procurement Officer, Molvi Siddiqullah Quraishi, the Head of the Public Awareness and Publications Committee of the Omari Camp and several other officials.
During the inauguration ceremony, Alhaj Mulla Nooruddin Turabi Sahb stated that the IEA is committed to providing all necessary facilities for returning migrants. He added that this camp has been equipped with all essential amenities in a standardized manner for compatriots who have been forcibly deported.
Subsequently, Qari Nooruddin Rustamkhil, the Director of Coordination and Mine Clearance, explained that this gathering aligns with the directives of His Excellency the Amir ul-Mu'minin (may Allah protect him). According to these directives, all ministers and heads of public institutions are obligated to assist migrants in Torkham and Boldak to the best of their abilities. He elaborated, "In this regard, we arrived from Kabul with 80 personnel from this authority, along with 400 tents and other essential supplies, to the Omari Camp. The esteemed governor of Nangarhar province designated a specific area for us in this camp, where we established a standard camp. Over the course of one week, 80 staff members and approximately 300 workers provided round-the-clock services, and today, after a week, we are officially inaugurating this camp."
He outlined the key tasks accomplished in the camp, which include:
1. Installation of approximately 400 tents in a standardized manner by professional experts.
2. Installation of a large tent (Rubhall) to serve as a warehouse.
3. Paving gravel on six secondary roads, covering a total of 13,200 square meters.
4. Digging drainage ditches on both sides of each road and planting 300 saplings in an organized manner.
5. Installing one water tank for every ten tents.
6. Installing a standard waste bin for every ten tents.
7. Constructing a standard clinic for the entire camp.
8. Transporting soil, stones, and excess materials using vehicles.
9. Providing electricity to each tent and installing lighting inside them.
10. Erecting fencing around the camp and covering it with green tarpaulin.
11. Installing signboards and banners at various points in the camp to guide migrants.
12. Installing standard mobile toilets for men and women, with female toilets covered by green tarpaulin.
Additionally, Mohammad Hashem Maiwandwal, the head of the Omari Camp, expressed gratitude to Alhaj Mulla Nooruddin Turabi, the Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, stating that the IEA has provided the necessary facilities in all aspects of life for Afghans returning to the country. He noted that the camp constructed by ANDMA is highly standardized and equipped with all essential amenities.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, appreciation was extended to all staff members who contributed to the camp’s establishment. The event ended with the distribution of cash gifts to the workers and prayers for blessings.
