His Excellency Alhaj Mullah Abdul Wali Saranwal (Haji Waris), the Deputy for Coordination of Disaster Affairs at Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, along with His Excellency Alhaj Molvi Akhtar Mohammad Khadim, the Director of Prevention and Risk Reduction, and a team of technical and professional experts, traveled to Kapisa Province. They inspected the ongoing demolition of 12 boulder masses and the bodies of two earthen hills in the village of Ilyas Khel, in the provincial center, which posed a serious risk of landslide.

The demolition work began with a prayer for success. The Deputy for Coordination of Disaster Affairs emphasized the need for precision, speed, and necessary caution throughout the operation and provided appropriate recommendations to the responsible officials.

Meanwhile, the Director of Prevention and Risk Reduction, while briefing on the project, stated that in addition to these boulder masses, other sections of the mountain and additional stones threatening the lives of local residents will also be safely demolished after proper assessment.

Similarly, Molvi Mohammad Saber Ahmad, the Director of Disaster Management Directorate for Kapisa Province, reported that out of approximately 700 homes in the village, 80 to 90 houses were under threat from these boulders. The process of securing them is now proceeding rapidly.

It is worth noting that the demolition of these 12 boulder masses (with a total volume of 130 cubic meters) and the bodies of two earthen hills (with a total volume of 146 cubic meters) has been contracted at a cost of 100,000 Afghanis (one lakh). Additionally, 6 more boulder masses and one earthen hill body, with a combined volume of 459.82 cubic meters, have recently been surveyed and contracted for 139,325 Afghanis. The work, which began on April 28th, 2026, is scheduled to be completed within one month.

Local residents have praised this initiative and offered prayers for the officials of the Islamic Emirate, expressing gratitude to Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority.
