ANDMA's Acting Head Inspects Quality of Gabion Wall Constructed in Jowzjan Province

On Thursday morning, the Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, Honorable Alhaj Mulla Nooruddin Turabi, who has embarked on provincial visits to enhance administrative affairs and improve public service delivery, inspected the quality of a gabion wall constructed by the authority in the Faizabad district of Jowzjan province.
During the inspection, Honorable Turabi Sahb stated that implementing preventive projects is highly significant and effective in mitigating the risks of natural disasters. He further emphasized that "Prevention is always better than cure," noting that by investing one million Afghanis in a preventive project, it is possible to avert potential damages worth tens of millions of Afghanis caused by disasters.
The aforementioned gabion wall, part of a riverbank stabilization project in the Kokuldash village of Faizabad district, has been constructed with a length of 173 meters along the main section, 40 meters on the sides, a height of 8 meters and a total volume of 480 cubic meters. These gabion structures, reinforced with stones, have safeguarded 300 residential homes and thousands of acres of agricultural land from flood risks upon completion.
It is worth mentioning that the local residents expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Honorable Turabi Sahb and the National Disaster Management Authority, describing the implementation of this project as vital. They also requested the design and implementation of additional similar preventive projects.
