Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority held a consultative meeting on the Strategic Plan for Climate Change and Disaster Management with the presence of relevant organizations

Today, on Tuesday, the Acting Head of ANDMA, Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, participated and delivered remarks at the consultative meeting on the Strategic Plan for Climate Change and Disaster Management. The meeting was organized by ANDMA in collaboration with the REHA organization for empowerment, environmental protection, and humanitarian aid.
Representatives from the IFRC Federation, the Economic Deputy Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, National Defense, Public Health, Finance, Refugees and Repatriation, Public Works, Water and Energy, the Afghan Red Crescent Society, Kabul Municipality, Kabul University, as well as representatives from organizations such as ALPHA, COAR, IMAP, CWSA, WFP, IOM, AKHA, NCA THT, OPOP, NEPA, and IRC, along with directors and experts from ANDMA, attended the meeting.
In his address, Turabi Sahb stated that the previous five-years plan of ANDMA has been completed. Consequently, a committee was established to develop a new strategic plan for disaster management. The preliminary draft of this plan has now been prepared and is being shared with partner organizations to gather their input for further enhancement of the plan.
He expressed gratitude to the CWSA organization for its collaboration in drafting the previous plan and to REHA for its support in developing the current plan. He added that ANDMA has established good cooperation with organizations and facilitates their activities in a safe environment.
Furthermore, he directed all provincial offices to fully cooperate with organizations working in disaster management and assisting affected people.
Meanwhile, the head of the REHA organization, Mohammad Yousuf Hamidyar, explained the purpose of the program and provided information about REHA. He stated that over the past two years, the organization has been working in the areas of disaster management and climate change and pledged that REHA is ready to collaborate in disaster management.
Additionally, the Acting Head of the IFRC Federation, Mr. Ahmad, spoke about his organization's cooperation in disaster management and expressed his satisfaction with participating in the meeting. |
Additionally, the head of COAR, Mr. Abdul Haleem Haleem, spoke on behalf of the organizations and assured their willingness to cooperate in this field.
It is noteworthy that the Deputy Head of REHA, Mr. Ezatullah Siddiqi, shared insights about disaster management and climate change in Afghanistan.
ANDMA's Policy and Program Development Specialist, Mohammad Rukhi Omari, also gave a presentation on the Strategic Plan for Disaster Management.
In conclusion, the participants were divided into four working groups focused on disaster reduction, preparedness, response, recovery, and sustainable reconstruction. After detailed discussions, each group shared its views on the plan, and it was decided that their constructive suggestions would be incorporated into the Strategic Plan.
