The Acting Head of ANDMA had a Meeting with UNAMA Climate Change Advisor

Today, on Thursday, the Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, Alhaj Mulla Nooruddin Turabi, met with the UNAMA Climate Change Advisor, Ms. Charity Watson and the Development Coordination Officer, Muqamuddin Seraj at his office.
Alhaj Turabi Sahb welcomed the visiting delegation and said that Afghanistan has always suffered due to climate change. Natural disasters like floods, droughts, earthquakes, and other issues cause harm to our people. He added that they are working to strengthen preparedness to reduce the risks of these disasters with the cooperation of international organizations.
He further emphasized that countries facing economic challenges and severely affected by climate change should receive support from wealthier nations and organizations. Fundamental steps must be taken to address climate change.
Ms. Charity Watson, UNAMA’s Climate Change Advisor, expressed special thanks to Alhaj Turabi Sahb for taking the time to meet. She noted that Afghanistan is a country heavily impacted by climate change and requires special attention.
She added that UNAMA will continue its cooperation with the authority to ensure quick responses to natural disasters and to find sustainable solutions.
