A Technical Meeting was held between Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority and International Organization for Migration (IOM)

On Wednesday afternoon, a technical meeting was held between the International Relations Directorate of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority and the technical delegation of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) at the authority’s headquarters. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and exchange views on accelerating and facilitating bilateral cooperation during emergencies and ensuring effective responses to natural disasters.
During the session, both parties emphasized the establishment and utilization of local volunteer teams during disasters, highlighting their critical role in rapid response, accessing affected communities, and raising public awareness about preparedness and risk reduction.
It was further stressed that training, equipping, and mobilizing local volunteers could serve as one of the most effective methods for enhancing community resilience in emergency situations. Both sides underscored the need for developing joint mechanisms, formulating coordinated programs and facilitating information sharing and response processes within the framework of strategic cooperation.
